Yeah. Flint is - I really admire Commander Flint. But Messere Silver is - I don't really know what to make of him. But I think he's kind.

[ She hesitates a moment. ]

Are you glad of it? Being able to fight for the mages? Is that what you want to do?

Yeah. It is. I mean, I am a mage, so of course I want it--and I don't know anything else, besides. I don't mean that badly, it's just--that's what I've been doing, since I was small. I wouldn't know what else to do. Especially as it's still a fight that's not ended, and won't end--not until mages have got their proper freedom and no one's talking about Circles anymore. I know what it was like there. I don't want any other mages to have to-- to go through that, y'know?

Which is why it feels so stupid sometimes. Being here. I like Riftwatch, I do. I know what we're doing, it's important. But-- I dunno.

You don't feel like it's the real fight.

Mm. Yeah. Well--I mean, I know we've got to beat Corypheus over anything. If we don't, it won't matter if there's Circles or there aren't. It'll all be shit. But--I always think, what comes next, y'know? When we do that, when we win and it's all over--there'll still be a world and we'll have to deal with all of our problems and so then I think, well, I ought to be doing more now, right? To get set up for then.

I think it is important to be thinking about that now.

[ She's nodding as she says that. ]

The Elder One - He's not the real evil in the world. There's much more than him out there that we shouldn't lose sight of.

Exactly! Yeah! He's one evil, right--one of the worst at present--but there's loads more out there, day-to-day evils, and we can't be putting off dealing with 'em. I mean, a lot of evils' connected, right--'cos it's about how people deal with each other and treat each other and think of each other. Or that's what I think, leastways.
